Mad Hatter Tea Party

The Hatter (also called the Mad Hatter or Hatta) is a fictional character in Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and its sequel "Through the Looking-Glass". He is often referred to as the Mad Hatter, though this term was never used by Carroll. The phrase "mad as a hatter" pre-dates Carroll's works and the characters the Hatter and the March Hare are initially referred to as "both mad" by the Cheshire Cat, with both first appearing in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, in the seventh chapter titled "A Mad Tea-Party".
Lucky for me I didn't have travel down a rabbit hole to find the tea party. I only had to drive 20 some miles to The Mad Hatter Restaurant-Tea Room.
It is a charming restaurant in an old vintage style house nestled among the pines in Anoka, MN.
If you followed the signs
it wasn't hard to find the front door.
Some in our group forgot their hats but the owners thought of everything as you could borrow or buy.

Lucky Anne remembered to wear her hat!

The staff was gracious and dressed to "the nines" in their tea party apparel.

The lunch was great but the dessert was the shining star a flourless chocolate torte topped with an edible orchid, strawberry and cream.
Browsing Pinterest and the Internet can provide you with endless ideas for setting up your own Mad Hatter Tea Party.
Several postings this week will be devoted to Tea Party ideas and foods. Here's a link to Tea Time to get you started.

  1. Superb photos from Mad Hatter Tea Party. I am just in love with all these party details. Keep sharing such fun posts. At the party venue New York my sister also threw a surprise Disney themed bridal party for her best friend. It was also very enjoyable.
