It's All About The Food

A lucky sign for the day.
Not only did we get to spend an amazing morning out in a charming French village but spent the rest of the day trying a variety of French dishes.
It began with lunch...
A croque-monsieur is a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. Typically, Emmental or Gruyere cheese is used.
Late afternoon there was a demonstration on board by the head chef.

Crêpe Suzette is a French dessert consisting of a crepe with a sauce of caramelized sugar and butter, tangerine or orange juice, orange zest and Grand Marnier.

Later that evening the boat docked near the town of Tain for a French home hosted dinner. 28 of us were divided into 4 groups. We were picked up at the boat by our French hosts and taken to their home for dinner. It started at 8:00 and ended at 11:00.
The courses were amazing including homemade pumpkin soup, a chicken and rice dish, assorted cheeses and bread, lots of wine but the best part was dessert.
Tain is the home of the world famous chocolate Valrhona. Note that the last part of the word rhona refers to the river Rhone region we are currently in. So the young man who is pictured did all the cooking and produced lava cakes on creme anglaise just like we had on the ship the night before!!! I have VOWED to skip the next meal. This dark chocolate is like no other I have tasted.
