Beauty and Paranoia

Traveling is always an adventure. You just never know what you will see. Take for instance this rooster. He and his friends seem to be everywhere on this island. I can't help but wonder how many cars run them over by accident.  This one was spotted in the WalMart parking lot.

Driving paranoia has settled over my husband. Today in front of a school we spotted eight men clustered together. Each of them had on a yellow reflective vest like road construction workers wear. As cars came along the road the speed limit changed quite suddenly from 25 to 15. Two were using radar guns to clock speed and the rest were pulling cars over and writing tickets as fast as they could in the parking lot. There were eight cars pulled over at one time. It must be Hawaii's revenue enhancement program because each ticket written was for $297.00. The car rental agency cautioned us about this speed trap practice. Later in the day we saw another group of eight or maybe it was same group at a different location but this time at the bottom of a hill. The speeds along the island's roads change abruptly from 35 to 25 to 15 and sometimes go as high as 40 but not that often. Drivers need to be on high alert especially when they spot these vested men with radar guns clustered together :)
But lucky the beauty of Kauai's landscape and vistas off set these unsettling practices.

My husband is used to me yelling Stop I need to get a picture when we are driving. This bush was just breathtaking with its pale pink flowers.
