Perhaps you recall the legendary Cafe Latte cake recipe that I featured last February.

Well this cake and 48 others are on a new Midwest Living link just in time for your Valentine's Day baking. Check it out

Baking a  cake is the perfect way to celebrate two birthdays.
Thomas Alva Edison (February 11, 1847 – October 18, 1931) was an American Inventor and businessman. He developed many devices that greatly influenced life around the world, including the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and a long-lasting, practical electric light bulb. Dubbed "The Wizard of Menlo Park", he was one of the first inventors to apply the principles of mass production and large-scale teamwork to the process of invention, and because of that, he is often credited with the creation of the first industrial research laboratory. Edison was a prolific inventor, holding 1,093 US patents in his name, as well as many patents in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.
Jane Hyatt Yolen (born February 11, 1939) is an award winning author of over 280 books for children, adolescents and adults. She has published fiction and non-fiction in multiple genres: fantasy, science fiction, children's books and poetry. Some of her best known books include " The Devil's Arithmetic", a Holocaust novella and "Owl Moon". Her other works include the Nebula Award-winning short story Sister Emily's Lightship, the novelette "Lost Girls", "The Emperor and the Kite", the "Commander Toad" series and "How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight."

I've always enjoyed her use of succinct language and imagery in this poem
and in this book.
P.S. This recent email came to my mailbox. Needless to say I was astounded and thrilled. The events winners are named Feb 21.Will keep you posted :)
