A January Event Not To Miss

Mia Wenjen blogs about children's books at www.pragmatic.com. She always posts interesting and informative links to books that appeal to middle grade readers and to multicultural books that promote diversity with a variety of creative extensions. Mia is the co-founder of a unique event called Multicultural Children's Book Day on Jan 27th.

Valarie Budayr is the other co-founder of this MCCBD event. She writes from Jump Into a Book/Audrey Press. Valarie posts a variety of creative book reviews with original book extensions. She hopes to inspire and engage families to read and do activities together.
Valarie and Mia are passionate about promoting multicultural literature and diversity in the classrooms and in homes. You can learn more about these co-authors here. and MCCBD's mission.
The MCCBD team’s mission to spread the word and raise awareness about the importance of diversity in children’s literature. The team feels young readers need to see themselves within the pages of a book and experience other cultures, languages, traditions and religions within the pages of a book. The team encourages readers, parents, teachers, caregivers and librarians to follow along with the fun book reviews, author visits, event details, a multicultural children’s book linky via their hashtag (#ReadYourWorld) on Twitter and other social media.
This year I will be participating again in the event as a book reviewer. More details to come later on this MCCBD event with a review of "Don't Judge A Bird by its Feathers" by Tori Nighthawk.

  1. Thank for sharing, Susan! MCCBd2016 is going to be HUGE and EXCITING. The book you are reviewing from Tori Nighthawk is sooooo beautiful. Tori herself is pretty impressive. She wrote this book at age 13 and also illustrated it too!
