They opened the area (Jackson Lake) where we are staying yesterday, so we were among the first customers of the season.
With statistics like this, it's no wonder that snow piles are still visible in early May despite temperatures in the low 70s.

It’s no secret that the Greater Yellowstone Region is one of the snowier locations in the United States, thanks partly to its high elevation, northerly latitude, and access to Pacific moisture. The terrain and elevation also result in large variations in Teton County snowfall. Average snowfall from October through April ranges from 75 inches to over 450 inches of snow in the county.
Despite snow piles everywhere and on the mountains, the weather was quite pleasant in the mid-70s range. We rented a small cabin. Here, we met our son Bryan, who lives in Missoula. The majority of our day was spent exploring the nearby Jenny Lake region. The scenery was incredible.
