A Memorial Ride

Despite a blustery wind and air temperatures hovering at 49 we took a memorial short boat ride to celebrate a life well lived. Today is the one year anniversary since Bella moved on to a place where there's no pain, with freedom to run and chase. Boat rides were one of her most favorite things we thought it only fitting to take one more ride in her honor.

We had intended to scatter ashes on the lake but we had none since the vet lost her ashes. I ask you, who loses a dog's ashes ??? What a heart break! So the best we could do was toast her with a glass of wine. Then we split a milkbone and tossed each half out to sea.

Bella was an endearing companion. Her hole in front was her happy place

so we created a little memorial garden right there.  A reminder of 10 happy years with Miss Bella as I called her and the realization of just how fragile life is. We are never promised another day. So in the chaos of this world, rejoice in its beauty and cherish those we love.

  1. I am so sorry for the loss of Bella, Sue. I know she meant a great deal to you and Charley. And, yes, who loses ashes? I'm sorry that compounds your sense of loss.
