HAPPY SUNDAY
Rise and Shine with a delicious French Toast Bake with Apples, Cranberries and Sausage. A casserole dish made the night before making breakfast or brunch a breeze. It's an amazing blend of sweet and savory flavors making the dish irresistible. A recipe keeper perfect for your small group holiday entertaining.
- 1 small loaf cinnamon swirl bread, cubed (1 lb.)
- 1-9 oz. package Jimmy Dean Sausage Patties, precooked
- 1 large Honeycrisp apple, peeled and cubed
- 1-1/2 cups cranberries. thawed and drained if frozen
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 6 large eggs
- 1-1/4 cups half and half
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar
Directions:
- Brown sausage in a small skillet 3 minutes a side. Line a plate with a paper towel. Transfer meat, cool and cube.
- In a large bowl, add brown sugar and cinnamon. Mix well. Add in cubed bread, diced sausages, cubed apples and cranberries. Mix well.
- In a greased 13 x 9 pan or greased 3 quart casserole dish add in bread mixture.
- In a blender mix eggs, half and half, cream and vanilla.
- Pour egg mixture over bread mixture. Use a sheet of wax paper and press down so bread cubes get soaked in egg mixture. Cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes, uncovered. Let rest 10 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and enjoy.
