Life Hacks

Pay close attention to this picture. I think Mother Nature is trying to pull a fast one. These leaves were not found up north but in the Twin Cities. How can this be? The calendar says its only August 11th!!
Every once in awhile you see some ideas to make your life easier and wonder why didn't I think of that! Take for instance some of these life hacks...
If your chromed bathroom and kitchen fixtures have hard water stains that won't come off with regular cleaners try cutting a lemon in half and scrubbing the surface with the lemon halves. The citric acid will cut through the stains. It also works to remove rust stains from bobby pins or razor blades left in the shower.
Cupcake liner to catch Popsicle drips.
Rubber binder over can to cut down on drips.
Clip binder to hold toothpaste tube.

Seems like such a good idea for storing shirts. Wishful thinking to have drawers look like the after picture.

1. To remove stubborn bits of food, pour 1 cup coarse kosher salt into the still-warm skillet. Use a folded kitchen towel to scour. Discard the salt and rinse the skillet with hot water. Dry immediately with a kitchen towel, or heat skillet over a medium-low flame to evaporate the moisture.

2. To season the pan, rub a light coat (1 Tbsp.) of flaxseed oil on the cast iron. This helps the pan develop that glossy patina, ward off rust, and retain its nonstick properties. Vegetable oil does the trick, too. Gently heat the pan to help the oil soak in.

  1. Seriously? The leaves are turning color already. Please, no. I love fall, but am not ready for summer to end.

I am going to try that lemon trick in my bathtub.
