Sitting on postesses,
Eating buttered toastesses,
Greasing their fistesse,
Up to their wristesses,
Oh, what beastesses
To make such feastesse!
Cook's Notes: Todays feastesse: Apple Pear Tart with Caramel Sauce
Bake this treat and your family and friends will be impressed. It tastes like it came from a bakery with a crispy yet flaky crust topped with sweet cinnamon pear and apple mixture and a drizzle of caramel sauce. What's not to like on this one!! A real winner in my book.
Recipe makes 6 tart servings and adapted from cuisineathome.com October 2017
Tarts Ingredients:
- 1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, thawed cut lengthwise and then into 6 rectangles.
- 2 TB. each granulated sugar and brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. Saigon cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 large Granny Smith apple cut in thin slices
- 2 Pears Bosc or Anjou, cut in thin slices
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 cup almonds or pecans
Directions:
- Mix sugars, cinnamon and salt, set aside.
- Cover a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Place puff pastry on baking sheet and cut into 6 rectangles. Space each out on baking sheet.
- In a large bowl add sliced apples. pears and lemon juice. Mix in sugar and cinnamon.
- Divide apple, pear mixture among 6 rectangles. Spread mixture out on each puff pastry leaving an edge all around the sides of each tart. Use a fork and press down all around the edges of the tart. This helps the edges puff up around the outside.
- Sprinkle with crushed nuts. Bake for 18 minutes or until golden brown.
Caramel Sauce Ingredients:
- 2 TB. brown sugar
- 1 TB. butter
- 1 TB. heavy cream
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla
- Dash of salt
Directions:
- Whisk ingredients and heat on a low heat until thickened about 3 minutes.
- Drizzle over tarts.
I can almost smell and taste this. Oh, does this sound delicious.
