Peanut Butter Blossoms Day 5 Cookie Blitz

 HOLIDAY COOKIE COUNTDOWN

Holiday baking wouldn't be the same if we didn't include a tray of traditional Peanut Butter Blossoms

The recipe comes from #2 Peanut Butter Cookies from Betty Crocker Cookie Book p.79
Cook's notes: This has been one of my favorite tried and true recipes from the book. You know it's a keeper when food stains highlight the page :)

Check out the price of $3.95 for this book, it's that old! The recipe makes about 18-20 cookies.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1/2 cup chunky Skippy Peanut Butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1-1/4 cups flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions:
  • Beat sugars, butter, margarine, peanut butter, and egg.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients and place bowl in the freezer for 1/2 hour or refrigerator for an hour to make sure dough is chilled for easier handling.
  • Heat oven to 375 and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Shape dough into 1-1/2 inch balls and place on sheet 3 inches apart and bake for 9 minutes.
  • Immediately add a chocolate kiss to baked cookies. Transfer to a wire rack for cooling time.

Consider a twist to your favorite Peanut Butter Blossoms

  4. These are my son's favorite Christmas cookies; though I do use creamy Jiff instead of chunky Skippy.
