Cinco de Mayo Favorites

Part One: Drink Specials
Surviving
we are on our third day of 100 plus with more to come- we have Minnesota cabin fever but in Arizona. Time to leave but not before a few toasts and here's hoping May looks better than March and April.
Mango- Strawberry Margarita Slushy
Cook's Notes: A refreshing slurpy drink sure to cool you off and it lasts awhile. Perhaps serve the drink with a spoon.
Recipe makes 4 drinks and was adapted from Midwestliving.com Great drink for watching the sunset.
Cooking tip: The recipe called for using frozen fruit. The ones I wanted were unavailable at store but I could find fresh fruit. Go figure! I cut it up, bagged and froze it for several hours. I think the taste using fresh fruits is superior to frozen anyway...just saying.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup gold tequila
  • 1/3 cup orange liqueur
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1-1/2 cups fresh or frozen mango chunks
  • 1-1/2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 2 cups crushed ice
  • Optional serve with fresh peach slices
Directions:
  • Use a blender for this recipe. Add all ingredients except ice and blend until smooth.
  • Add 1 cup crushed ice, blend, add rest of ice and blend again.
  • The mixture is thick so let drinks set a few minutes before serving.
Margarita Floats
This isn’t a recipe…just a fun little idea for your next patio party (or your next cocktail hour!). Recipe comes from mixandmatchmama.com
Rim a glass in salt, add a scoop of raspberry gelato, pour glass halfway full of a pre-made margarita drink mixture and then topped it off with Sprite for the fizz. Delish! You could really go mix and match crazy with this…
Pineapple or coconut sherbet with your Pina Colada
Vanilla ice cream with your rum and Coke
Orange sherbet in your Manhattan
Lime sherbet in your Mojito

You get the drill…add a scoop, top it with some sort of soda (an Orange Crush would be fabulous in one of these too!) and enjoy

It's All About The Rocks-Pandemic Craft
For some inexplicable reason people in my area have caught rock fever. Walking the neighborhood has become a bit of a "I Spy Game" finding brightly colored rocks in various places. Perhaps the intent is to bring a smile to one's face in these hard times. Some rocks have a simple word while others have a design. These were at the mailbox
and this one in a yard.
Lastly, HAPPY MAY DAY
Surprise someone with a basket

  1. I wish the rock craze would catch on here in Faribault because I absolutely love this method of uplifting people.
