Dr. Pepper Museum and Magnolia Bed and Breakfast Part Three

Did you know Waco, Texas is the home to Dr. Pepper, the nation's oldest major soft drink?
Dr Pepper was first manufactured and sold in the United States beginning in 1885 in the central Texas town of Waco. Considered the national drink of Texas, no trip to Waco is complete without a visit to the Dr Pepper Museum.
The Museum is housed in the historic 1906 Artesian Manufacturing and Bottling Company building. It is also the home to the W. W. Clements Free Enterprise Institute. The Institute was created in 1997 for the purpose of educating school children as well as adults about the economic system that underlies American life. The program uses the soft drink industry as a model to teach students about developing, producing, and marketing products. An exhibit about the life of W.W. Clements and his philosophy of life, free enterprise, and business ethics opened in 2008 on the third floor of the Museum.

The museum has three full floors of exhibits, a gift store filled with Dr Pepper memorabilia, and a working old-fashioned soda fountain. The gift shop sells Dr Pepper that is bottled in the oldest still-operating plant in America in Dublin, Texas.

It was a trip down memory lane visiting the museum. Remember this commercial?

On our way out of town we needed to make a quick stop at Lula Janes for coffee and a pastry.
Lula Jane's is a bakery and a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch and offers catering services. Again a place on my daughter's list since Joanna Gaines often uses Lula Janes's  catering services. Everything here is made from scratch, in-house, with the best ingredients. The food was wonderful and worth a stop especially for her homemade chocolate chip cookies. The best ever!
Back On the Road to Austin
Magnolia House McGregor , Texas.
If you’ve got Fixer Upper Fever, you already know that the dynamic duo recently completed a remodel of a late 1800’s house, turning it into a vacation rental property called Magnolia House. The property was featured on Season 3, Episode 14. The Innkeepers home, on adjacent property and not available for tours or rental, was featured on Season 3, Episode 16.

The beautiful house was redesigned by Joanna to reflect the charm of their own farmhouse. You’ll find lots of shiplap and kind thoughts on the walls, unique use of hidden spaces, and a wrap around porch. Joanna’s touch is all around If Jenny could have jumped the fence she would have but there was a very specific sign which discourages that.

Magnolia House could be yours but for a price. Ideally you're going to want to book Magnolia House with some kind of group, to help divide the cost. Check prices with this link https://magnolia.com/stay
Hope you enjoyed the week long action packed tour of Austin and Waco. We were impressed how the popularity of one HGTV show and the efforts of a hard working , dynamic duo Chip and Joanna Gaines has made such a far reaching effect on the economy of one Texas town, Waco. The Texas Southern hospitality was everywhere ensuring your stay was a good one. Everyday was over a 100 degrees but no one ever complained. I have never seen such happy visitors who were thrilled to be a part of the whole Fixer Upper experience enjoying all Waco has to offer.
