Kid-Friendly Iced Oreo Cookies

Adding some early holiday cheer to your day! No, I've not gone bonkers like Alice said though each day often looks and feels like the previous day becoming a blur.
But wait! There is some method to my madness. Read on...
In April I posted these Iced Oreo cookies (kid-friendly) made with just 3 ingredients: Oreo cookies, chocolate melting wafers and M & M's.
Full recipe found at https://sockfairies.blogspot.com/2020/04/i-spy.html
Today was a good day for experimenting as I need to send a recipe into a magazine for their holiday section. Since this cookie making involves only 3 ingredients it's an easy treat for kids to put together and be creative.
It pays to save as I had these holiday decorations leftover from last year. All were purchased from Michaels including the chocolate melting wafers.
I tried 3 different type of Oreo cookies; Thin, Classic Oreos and Double Stuf Oreos. Thin Oreos do not work well as they tend to come apart when trying to coat the cookie with melting waffers. Double Stuf or your Classic Oreo Cokie works the best.
Cooking Tips:
  • Line a baking sheet with wax paper. Use a large mouthed coffee cup to melt 1/2 bag at a time of chocolate melting wafers.
  • Use a small tong to dip one cookie at a time into melted chocolate.
  • Place cookie on lined baking sheet.
  • Decorate immediately and move to next cookie for dipping.
  • When tray is full, place in freezer for 30 minutes to set up icing.
