Tucson Festival of Books 2015

Tucson celebrates books and literacy at one of the largest book festivals in the U.S. This two-day event is the 7th annual featuring nearly 400 authors participating in 320 presentations at 36 venues as well as countless opportunities to meet authors, poets, screenwriters, and journalists. There are book signings, panel discussions, staged entertainment, food vendors, children's and Science City programming, and dozens of free activities for all ages on the University of Arizona Mall.
It is much more than a book festival! It also includes Science City, which promotes literacy in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

In addition to providing two unforgettable days each year where words and imagination truly come to life, the Tucson Festival of Books also supports literacy programs in Tucson and Southern Arizona. Since its launch in 2009, the Festival has contributed $1,050,000 to local literacy programs.

Festival authors will represent genres that include poetry, culinary arts, business and leadership, philosophy, youth writing, sci-fi, horror, thrillers, memoirs, romance, health and nature, and other topics. 

The two day event includes author presentations and writing workshops. Some noteworthy festival presenters include: Mitch Albom, Dave Barry, William Kent Krueger, Scott Turow, Lisa See, and Gail Sheely just to name a few.

Two woman from the Pequot Lakes area in Minnesota will be in attendance. 

Krista Rolfzen Soukup is owner of Blue Cottage Agency in Pequot Lakes. She is a literary publicist, agent and book marketing consultant. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Marketing and has over 20 years of experience in sales, promotions and marketing. 

On Saturday Krista will be part of  a three person panel presentation, The Inside Scoop from Book Marketing. Her other presentation will be  Author as a Speaker.

Candace Simar is a poet and author from Pequot Lakes, MN. Candace has written a four novel series: "Abercrombie Trail", "Pomme de Terre", "Birdie" and "Blooming Prairie". These novels are based on Minnesota history, some of which is Candace's own family history. The stories are set in west central Minnesota, just before the Dakota conflict and going through the mid-1870s. Candace will be selling her books at the Western Writers of America booth at the festival. 
Candace and her sister Angela Foster have co-authored a book called "Farm Girls". The book celebrates through poetry and prose bits of memoir and stories about growing up on a Minnesota dairy farm.
