The Gift of Words

You need not do anything.
Remain sitting at your table and listen.
You need not even listen, just wait.
You need not even wait, just learn to be quiet, still and solitary.
And the world will freely offer itself to you unmasked.
It has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.
-Franz Kafka (1883-1924)
German language writer of novels and short stories

You just never know what you'll find on a walk around the neighborhood. Bella and I discovered this lending free library only blocks away from our house. What a pleasant surprise to know neighbors are embracing Little Free Libraries in the Big City movement. Their mission is to build a sense of community, promote literacy and encourage a love of reading. The following link will give you more information on how to donate or start one in your own neighborhood.
These homeowners put a lot of thought into this library box. The wood and letter carvings were a beautiful piece of art. I kept the photo large just in case you'd like to see what a mid April spring day in Minnesota looks like.
Elizabeth Berg has a gift for well developed characters and women relationships in her books. I could not pass up this new book since the setting is Minnesota and in my hometown. Berg has crafted a novel which is rich in understanding women relationships and friendships that ultimately  weaves together into a tapestry of fortunes.
Cece is the main character. She is a motivational speaker who has recently lost her best friend to cancer. Cece realizes she needs to make some changes in her own life to survive .  She downsizes from the suburbs to the city of St. Paul Como Park area. Cece moves into a large house with four housemates. As the story develops these women encounter many unexpected turns, deepening friendships and realizations of inner truths.

Bella and I both made front page yesterday of Wonderful Womens Network Community newsletter, Rockport, Texas. Bella wrote a story All Good Things Must Come To An End and I submitted a Jambalaya recipe.

Poetry tip of the day: Memorize A Poem
here is a easy one to get you started
Dust of Snow
by Robert Frost
The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree

Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued.
